Just like it says, whats the best approach to remove the stock radio, what to remove first, where to start????

It's been a while since I had one out. As I remember the heater controls are kind of in the way of dropping it straight out the bottom? It seems like last time I took one out I had the glovebox out and pulled it through that way. I am sure if there is an easier way someone will jump in and correct me.

Remove the 2 screws under the dash that hold the heater controls and drop it out of the way. Then you should have room to get at the radio.

Drop the heater like everyone said. The radio is held in by nuts on the shafts and a brace in the rear. Pull the knobs and chrome jobs, use a 5/8 deep socket to remove the nuts and cups. Around on the back there is a brace that runs up to the speaker bracket. Use a 3/8 on that. The wires pull out on the left rear. Thats it.

I've taken out the glove box on a non-A/C cab. Gave me lots of room.

Yes all that ! and the last step -
Take the radio and rap in bubble packaging real good, Insert in box with plenty peanuts, then take down to UPS and ship to:
Cypress Texas - Tony Smith
Cypress, Texas 77429

I have one also along with the fm conversion that bolts on underneath the dash, I can't get them to work but if anybody is interested in them, When I get them out you can have them for the cost of shipping from 29212

I think you have your AM receiver tuned to the wrong frequency. It seems like it has to be set to 1400 or 1600? If you drop down the FM converter it should say on top of it what frequency to set the AM unit to. Without the Am on the right frequency the FM converter will not work. I sold my FM converter to someone on the board last year at the NATS but I really don't remember their user name. The converter I sold still had the correct frequency on the top of it. I am sure if you created a post about it they would respond.

I like the FM conversion. Was this a factory option? Aftermarket? Does it play FM on an AM Station or just take over the speakers? If you don't know that's OK.

I have one of those laying in the shop. I will look when I get home and post frequency. Pulled it out when I found an underdash FM/8 track at a garage sale.

Found the FM converter. Realistic model 12-1350B. There is a pot on the bottom that says adjust near 1400.
