Torque
OK fellas, I found out a very frustrating fact about these trucks. Even though you have all the service manuals, assembly manuals and even the Haynes manual some things you still can't find. I need the torque for the rear U bolts attatching the axle to the leaf springs. Also is there a procedure for tightening them I don't want to break the saddles they are not available in the catalogs. The frame is a 72 GMC K2500 has a Dana 60 and I removed all the extra leafs that the previous owner installed. Now it's bone stock. The Haynes manual only has the procedure for the 73 and up leafs not the one I need.
Thanks Navysnipe |

Re: Torque
in my 73 manual it has the torque for the ubolts on the rear axel as 140ftlbs // cant imagine it's much different for other years
as far as technique , i was trained that you loose tighten all 4 so the same amt of thread is visable then slowly in 3 or 4 steps tighten diagonally opposing corners till you get to the final torque
