12K Original Miles - '69 C-20 Grass Fire Truck

Not the kind of rig you'd expect to see for sale in 2013 on the used car lot of an Ohio Chevy dealership... but it is.

It's currently on Craigslist. Link was at bottom of first post.

Truck was sold new in Ohio, used by Ohio Fire Dept, now for sale at rural Ohio Chevy dealership.

K/20,as in 4wd 3/4t. And yeah Jocko,I remember it was on Ebay,or somewhere else, too. I guess either this dealership had it on Ebay and it didn't meet reserve or the VFD had it on Ebay and this dealership won it at a price they could make money on. I'm pretty sure these are even the same pictures. So,where ever it was, they were prolly the ones who had it on Ebay. I believe it could have only 12k on it,but what happened to the pedal pads and I guess someone repainted the engine.

It's kind of like a "Factory" drag car with only 100 miles on the odometer.

Of course that is 200 1/4 mile runs down the track, and 200 1/4 miles back to the pits.

Mileage isn't the only factor in how a machine has been treated.

X2

Notice the wear to the seat edge as well. I would bet the driver door has been opened and closed as many times in 20k miles as trucks with three or four times the mileage. Same goes with the brake and clutch pedal pads. Those pop of pretty easily anyway. I would think someone woe spend the $15 to replace them. IMO, things like that help with a sale.

Very cool truck and I'd love to own it, just not very practical. Pull the huge rear bumper rack and fire apparatus and it would be a little better, but it is probably geared pretty low and would be wound tight going down the highway.

I posted a thread about it last week.
The dealership had their own ad and an ad on Ebay at the same time.

I should buy this. I'm getting tired of being pulled over and asked,"Where's the fire?"

Around here we call 'em "brush fire trucks"

Cool truck no doubt. Wouldn't the attachment screws for the glove box door come from GM painted the dash color rather than black?

Mine were black from the factory. I painted them several years ago but I have bought new screws to replace them. For originality

Good to know, thanks. Maybe I'm not paying attention but it seems that I've just seen these painted to match the color of the glove box door.

I thought it would look better at shows but I think the black one's look better. That's just me though.

I'm trying to stay close to original with mine so I can stay in the stock class.I don't have the money to go in the modified class.

I hope they don't put you in the modified class just because your glove box screws are painted the wrong color!

I have parted trucks that had them both ways. I wonder if it has to do with the color of the truck its self or the plant where it was built.

Yeah,I know all that, but the pedal pads should still be there and look like maybe 50k. I was just wondering why anyone would remove them. I guess I'm saying, either way,if I was them I'd have invested in a couple pedal pads. Your explanation all the more supports my comment that the engine had been painted.

Some hinges and screws were panted body color and some we primer black.

Very cool truck and if the fire department had it then yes the milage maybe orignal.

Mine are black. I don't know for sure if they were swapped but I wouldn't think so.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
