Got a question for the 4x4 Jimmy Guys.

Guy I work with has a '69 or '70 GMC 4x4 Jimmy, still lifted with nice size tires, I would really like to convert it to a two wheele drive if he decides to sell it. Is all that is required a the bolt-in front crossmember from a two wheel drive truck?

Secondly, Is there not a special front axle that is worth a little bit of money, figured I would sell off the 4-wheel drive stuff to pay for the two-wheel drive swap.

Josh

Re: Got a question for the 4x4 Jimmy Guys.

In regard to your second question, a Dana 60 front axle can be worth as much as $800 to $1000 but they didn't come any these year trucks. Could easily be swapped in though. Stock that truck would have had a Dana 44, 8 lug if it was a 3/4 ton truck and 6 lug if it was from a 1/2 ton.

Thanks for answering the question, Umm, It appears to be a six-lug truck.

Drum brake D44's are really not worth much more than scrap to anyone, but you could always put it on eGay with the starting bid at $0.01 with no reserve and see what happens.

Mark, I wasn't aware of any 8 lug Blazers? Lol! Just wake up from your afternoon nap?

If I'm not wrong, GMC didn't jump on the K/5 Bandwagon until the '70 model year.

You might have to change the steering box also. The Dana 44 is not going to sell, unless it has a posi in it. Then you could just sell the posi. To me.
