Must have books?

So what are the best publications available (if any) for the classic Chevy truck owner/enthusiast? Any "must haves"? Is there one great book for the 67-72 C-10s that includes exploded views, diagrams, schematics, how-to, bolt info, etc?

Re: Must have books?

GM factoy service manual and the GM assembly manuals both available from most vendors on the board at reasonable prices are a great start// and for free are the LMC truck catalogues as they have pretty good illustrations

I agree ,,

And when I put in all new air condition hoses under the dash I found that the LMC illustation was the best I found ..as for the GM assembly book ,,You have to look a little more to find the page that goes with your year ,,other than that it does help.

Re: Must have books?

Helm Books(factory manuals) as mentioned.Everything else will be frustrating and at least partly generic.

Re: Must have books?

Thank you all very much, that's exactly the kind of info I want on hand.

Re: Must have books?

If you want to know about options, year to year changes, etc.; the Chevrolet pickup Red Book, or, the standard catalog American Light-duty Trucks. can't hardly be beat, IMHO.

Re: Must have books?

I have a whole bookshelf dedicated to reference materials for these trucks.I can tell you that the ones mentioned are the best. The Red Book has some good info but is not as complete as I would have expected(I think it's out of print but available thru motorbooks).I collect books of all types so I have bought most over the years.I found a 47-72 parts catalog.
