new hood hinges-should I paint or..........
I just bought some new GM hood hinges. They came coated in what looks like black oxide coating-my question is will that coating hold up and for how long? I thought about using some lacquer thinner to clean them and paint them with rustolem black. Anyone have other ideas on this?

make sure you spread the spring so you get it evenly painted....or have them powdercoated

Make sure your coater uses a tool to slightly stretch the spring so the powder gets between the coils.

How does the Powercoat do on stretching metal? Does it have some pliability? I think of it as a rigid coating...so curious.

Powdercoat works great on springs. It's quite elastic. I do a lot of springs for motorcycle restorers and they're always quite pleased with the durability Most aftermarket coil springs on the market are powdercoated from the factory.
