Question about headers
How is one to go about the A/C bracket on the front of the engine when installing headers? Because on my 83 it looks like the A/C bracket screws into the manifold. If not, do I need a specific header to fit thru the a/c bracket?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks -tyler |

Re: Question about headers
I know what you mean. I noticed that when putting my headers on. I ditched my ac, so that wasnt a problem for me. I think they make a bracket for it. I would call www.summitracing.com to see if they can help. They sell all kinds of different brackets for headers. Just tell them what you got.

Re: Question about headers
ok thanks man.
after closer inspection it seems like the bracket mounts under the manifold directly into the block. I'm still questioning whether or not the header can fit around the bracket. |

Re: Question about headers
I use tubing as a spacer to make up the difference in depth and keep the bracket as intact as possible. Sometimes you have to notch them a little.
Works for power steering brackets too. You can usually use the stock manifold bolt with a nut on the end to allow the header to be tightened. Sometimes you have to thread the bolt a little further up the shank to make it work. |
