Under Hood Color
Does anyone know what the correct factory color for the underside of the hood for a 1972 pickup? Flat black maybe.

Re: Under Hood Color
If I'm not mistaken hoods were casually shot with a flat black primer underneath, and then a lot of body color overspray on top of that. Sometimes all body color. Firewall was body color, fender skirts, frame and radiator wall were satin black. Duller than semi-gloss black that Ford used.
But I could be wrong

Re: Under Hood Color
It can vary based on final assembly location, but I don't think anyone can argure with you if you do flat black primer with body color overspray around the edges.
The most anal guys will duplicate the way the hood was hung in the factory so that the hanger attaching points can be seen in the overspray pattern. K
