Anybody running Spintech mufflers?

I'm planning an exhaust system for the 383 in the GMC and want to go with Spintechs, but not sure which model. I don't really want to attract the law so I think the Prostreet's are out of the question. The plan is to run 2 1/2" duals with crossover pipe behind Thorley Tri-Y headers and exit either before the rear wheels or in the stock location. Any and all opinions are appreciated.

never used the spintech's but if you are going to use the truck as a daily driver, you probably don't want them exiting in front of the rear tires.

don't take the pipes out infoont opf the tires if its an every day driver because the heat from the pipes will heat your tires up and wear them out faster.

Nobody runnin' Spins? I can't decide between the Sportsman and Sportsman XL mufflers. The XL being a little quieter since the muffler has a larger body and more baffles. Anyone?

I luv Spintechs, too. Best mufflers out there, IMO. Take a good look at the length/width/height dimensions. That may drive your choice based on the space available where you expect to hang them.

Even the quieter models flow well due to the vortec and venturi effect of their SpinTraps. But for sheer performance, there's no substitute for their louder offerings. Everything's a compromise, but, IMO, Spintech mufflers compromise less performance for any sound reduction achieved compared to other muffs.

Aweful expensive to get that benefit, though. Only drawback, IMO.

Re: Anybody running Spintech mufflers?

Hey Big Sky thanks for the info. I have family out there From Bozeman to Glendive. I guess my decision is going to be based on noise level. Which model do you have and how loud are they compared to say a Flowmaster 40? I like the flow numbers of the Spins and the sound bytes on their website are on real lopey prostreet type cars so I can't really tell how they'll sound on a 383 with a relatively mild cam. Thanks for your input.

Go with the sportsman XL. People will ask you what you've got for mufflers guaranteed.
