Thats a gov lock. They work as a posi under a certain speed and then its a non posi over that speed.

Yup a gov lock. I call them coo coo clock posi's, cause of all the clock works inside.

They go by several derogatory terms...deservingly so.
They are "marginal" at best, but.....in a completely stock truck, driven responsibly, they can survive for quite some time. With high performance engines, bigger tires, wild/crazy driving.....they don't do well.

Just because I live in Chula Vista, let me tell you that I saw exactly the same at pic u parts in a chevy 1500 1994 long bed six cyl and I had the same dude.

Maybe I should just get rid of it then..... It came in a 69 1/2 ton shortbed that i picked up for 600 bucks..... How much is it worth?? Its a six lug 4:11.....

just drive it till it comes apart or be nice to it and enjoy your truck.. if you know youre gonna be beating a$$ all over the place spinning tires around ever corner then you need to get it outta there and replace it with a good sold posi setup.....
