Nevermind, i see the kit is with the trim itself... they only list as 71-72.. is there a difference between those and the 69-70? why different numbers

Re: Anyone ever 3M there upper/lower trim on?

I would think that with our type of trim, (heavier than the newer stuff) it would shift in the heat, the glue that is on the tape would get soft and lose its contact , that wouldnt be too terrible to fix, no real big deal if it did, I suppose, reapply or even then go for the hole drilling method... I can imagine some people on here would like to try trim, but arent sure if they would like , but if they drill holes, well I would guess thats for good, or until the welder and paint came out to fix the holes, with tape, I guess all you need is a little goof off to remove the glue smudges if you dont want the trim. good point, I hope you find some good stuff.

The trim itself is actually pretty light, only thing is its not really flat on the underside.. maybe ill just have some strip painted on it or something

Yup...it works great.
Had all the trim on like this 5 years now.
It's never come loose or even started to pull away.

I 3M'ed my abs plastic kick panel speaker enclosures on...does that count? Not sure how that would hold up to the elements though. I doubt it would hold up. JMO.

Re: Anyone ever 3M there upper/lower trim on?

Most new car trim and badges are just 3M taped on. I debadged and removed the side mouldings on my late model charger and it was just taped on........taped on really well but taped on none the less. It took about 2 hours with a heat gun and 3 bottles of Goo-gone to get that crap off. I don't see many people with newer cars having their trim peices falling off. I would give it a try and if it sucks or falls off get out the goo-gone.

Re: Anyone ever 3M there upper/lower trim on?

I just bought the trim for my '69 that got sideswiped and they sold me plastic clips that hook up like regular molding fasteners, but you put tape on the mounting surfaces.Haven't tried them out yet tho.

3M two sided tape is the only way to go imho.

LMC sells a kit that plastic clips with two sided tape on them. I used it one of the bed pieces on my truck and it worked great.

No Clips...nothing but the 3M tape.
I welded up all those clip holes before I repainted.

Do it,it's awsome stuff.
