I added to the stable today

-
I bought a '72 GMC 4x4 this afternoon. It has a rebuilt 350 with 5 miles on it and a rebuilt TH350 trans. He drove it from the shop to the storage unit after it was rebuilt and that is it. It has been in the storage unit for about three years.

The bodywork was professionally done and I know the guy that did it, so there is no problem there. It is painted Pewter with the lower portion Charcoal. The truck was only 17 miles from me and the owner said he would deliver it. Instead of me re-typing all of the stuff about it here is an e-Mail I received from him about it.

leon,

I left town for awhile today, sorry for the delay. The truck is a 1972 GMC 4x4 1/2 ton w/air. I started this truck being a frame off restoration. The frame has been bead blasted and finished with epoxy. It has new door skins, rockers, cab corners, floor pans and inner fender wells. The whole underside of the truck has been undercoated as well. It also has a new windshield and new sliding rear window. The motor has been completely rebuilt and I also put a matched intake, cam and lifter set along with a new carburator. It has a New 2-1/2" suspension lift and new aluminum wheels with 33" tires. The front bumper is original and in good a shape, the back bumper is brand new. The only thing that is left is basically put the grill in place and install the lights. As far as the inside goes it has been painted but it also needs put back together. I do have new kick panels and door covers, I believe, some where. The fenders were original and in good shape & the hood looked brand new. The tailgate was in mint condition before it was painted, also. I would like to sell it at $4000.00 - $5000.00. Thanks.

Larry

I talked to him again and he said he would sell it to me for $4000 cash but wouldn't take any less.
I have no problem putting it back together so the only expense I would have would be some misc. stuff. The guy that did the body work said he knows for a fact that the owner has close to 8k in it with what he paid for the truck and the work he has had done to it. I want to put on a new seat cover & put a tach dash and tilt column in it that I have. The guy delivered it late this afternoon.

OK, here is a pic on the trailer and some after I washed all of the crud off of it.... I need to get the pressure washer out and do the bottom side tomorrow. The inside really looks bad but it isn't as bad as it looks.
I did some checking last night and I have almost everything to finish it. It did come with all new seals and weatherstrips, and new pieces for the front edge of the fenders. Now the fun begins...

Thanks guys. I will be working on it in the next few days. I need to drain the tank. That gas really smells rotten.

Sorry, no trades...

<67ChevyRedneck - Wonder why he quit when he was SOOOOOOOOO close!>

The poor guy can't do anything himself so he would have to hire everything done, he said.

<68_GMC - Wow sweet truck is it going to be at the Nats next year?>

Don't know at this time, we'll see....

<JayDubBlazer - Nice deal, where in Iowa did you get it.>

It came from Grinnell, IA, about 60 miles East of Des Moines.

Nice score! When I first saw it I wasn't all that thrilled with the color then I let my imagination kick in and what it will look like together. It will look great. Grats on the find and am waiting on completed pics.

Re: I added to the stable today

Leon... what a score!!! The color combo on the truck is amazing, and for only $4,000, you stole that truck!!!

Can't wait to see what you end up with on your this project. Were you able to get rid of the '67 for this? Or is the '67 still in the stable?

Side note... is that your farm/place in the back ground?
