Step bumper to standard bumper

Hello all, I had a rear step bumper on my 84 c10 and I wanted to switch it for a standard bumper. After I go to line up the bumper to the new braces I noticed that the bumper sticks out pretty far, there is about a 3 inch gap. Is this because the truck was meant for the step bumper?

Like this? If so you need the filler panel or modify the brackets to tuck the bumper closer to the body.
Not my truck btw

i think the bumper bracket shields would only cover parts of the gap.

Re: Step bumper to standard bumper

Chris, That is the normal mounting position for the sport bumper . When I mounted mine it looked the same and did not like it so I modified the brackets to move the bumper closer . Looks way better . Seems like I moved mine 1-1/4" to 1-1/2" .
