Bucket seats

Ok, don't kill me all at once, but here's my stupid question. What is the difference between buckets for 67-72 trucks and the same era cars( both from chevy)?

I ask, because I keep seeing camaro seats from the same years as our trucks and they look awfully close.

Thanks,
Daniel

Re: Bucket seats

I don't know the right answer either, but my '71 Jimmy has high-back buckets the PO put in it. A seat shop guy told me they were possibly out of a late '70s/ early '80s Camaro or Firebird. Saddle vinyl sides and a tweedy khaki seat and inside back. Kind of ratty now, and the foam was cast with some spring structure inside, so when it's not too renewable. I pulled paper build sheet fragments from under the seat but haven't solved the puzzle yet to get the VIN from their original car.
Set-up is funky with front seat mounts screwed into deck with 1/4" machine screws and a stack of two 2 x4 boards for the rear mounts to be lag bolted into. I recently had to replaced the dried-out, splintering 2x4s with new wood. And it cracked on the final lag bolt. Grrr.
Foam is rotting in the AZ heat and when the foam encased psrings break you can't get to them.
Yes -- I need an upgrade, but I can't afford it so medium blue sheepskin covers from Checker auto will have to do for now.
