Hi,

Does anybody have a picture of a 1972 fuel tank sending unit? I understand that they have 2 lines coming out, instead of one. I'm installing EFI and was wondering if one of the lines could be used as a return. Pics would be greatly appreciated.

Thats exactly what it is designed for, 72 fuel pums have a return line. I will get you a picture in a couple minutes.

The smaller of the two lines is the return line.

I added a return to my 68 sender for EFI and it would have been easier to just get a new 72 version. It works just fine and was basically free, but what is your time worth?

Does anybody know the size of the smaller line, and how far down into the tank does the smaller line go? From the picture it looks like it doesn't go very far......wouldn't you be able to hear the returning fuel falling into the tank and how noisy would this be?

That was one reason I wanted to build my own. The other was $$, my sender works just fine. I ran a hard line all the way to the bottom and put a small bend to point it the opposite direction of the pickup screen. I don't hear any splashing. I suppose you could just extend the line on the 72 sender with some hose. It doesn't have to hold any real pressure.

returning fuel to bottom is cridical to prevent static electricity I read some where. also air bubbles from splashing coud result in excessive fuems being released
