Step spare tire mount

ANYONE know who might sell the bracket to hold my spare for a '67 stepside with the fender cut out? A search on the forum only showed that someone got one from Kennys truck but I haven't called them. I don't know if they sell a new one or if that place is a pick-n-pull type outfit. I've got new rims and scored on a fifth off the HAMB and really want to make this happen. Thanks!

Re: Step spare tire mount

Depending on your rims, the bolts on the bracket you get may or may not hit any of the lug holes in the spare rim you want to mount.

My truck originally had 6 lug rims on it, & I changed over to five lug axles & 8" ralley rims. Looked like one bolt would barely catch on the 5-lug wheel with the tire mounted, so I cut two of the three lugs off the bracket& bolted the spare on. Sat just a little bit forward of ideal-centered in the fender's wheel cutout, but nobody ever saw it but me.

One lug nut was plenty to hold the tire on. Could've welded some more lugs onto the plate on the bracket, but never felt the need, & it never loosened up.

Right now, I've got just an extra sidemount spare bracket laying on the shelf as the starting point for what may someday be my next truck.

But no blue truck.

Thumbs down Re: Step spare tire mount

It's a no go at Kenny's truck. Any other ideas?

Re: Step spare tire mount

Short bed here. I'll have to do some research and see what all would be involved on "modifying" a long bed mount. Thanks!
