Re: New Fuel pump to carb line wrong from Classic Industries

Thats a frustrating part to order, as there could be so many different styles. I bought the braided one from autozone, but i dont like it. It touched the + on my alternator and almost caught fire. Maybe better off bending your own line..

I purchased one for my 72 big block and it wasn't even close to fitting. I ended up just making my own.

Any chance your fuel pump is not correct? Maybe someone did a junk yard swap on the pump and line at some point in time.

Just go to an autoparts store and buy some 3/8th fuel line and bend it to fit then reflare the ends.

Re: New Fuel pump to carb line wrong from Classic Industries

I also believe there is a difference between A/C and non A/C fuel pumps on 71 / 72 350's. The fuel line would certainly be different also because the A/C fuel pump version has a return and a different can and also has the fuel line outlet orientated in a different location.

I would be willing to bet the line you bought is for a non A/C fuel pump.

http://www.autozone.com/autozone/par.../N-ipkdrZ8vcz2

I looked at AutoZone and Napa web sites and they both list a 2 line and 3 line fuel pump. The three line is the one with the long can and I believe is for A/C equiped trucks. It appears to be about 4-5 inches deeper than the 2 line fuel pump.

And then again, I could be totally wrong here. Good luck.

Re: New Fuel pump to carb line wrong from Classic Industries

This is a all ORIGINAL truck that my grandfather bought new and it is a 72 350 4v with air and does have the long can fuel pump with return. The new line is not long enough and bent wrong. The one on Classic Industies website says fits all models and the one it shows in pic is longer and looks right http://www.classicindustries.com/tru...s/tpc7101.html

Re: New Fuel pump to carb line wrong from Classic Industries

Well it appears that classic industries has never had to install this line on a truck with A/C. You have to remember that they are just a supplier to many vendors.

You have two options from here. One is to find a vendor that understands there is a difference in these fuel lines or, get the material and tools you need and replicate your original or have someone else replicate it for you.

As mentioned, even with the correct replacement, you may have some tweaking to do but not much.

Re: New Fuel pump to carb line wrong from Classic Industries

Since I have a 4 barrel Edelbrock on an Offy intake on my 292, it wouldn't fit anyway.

They should have reimbursed you for the shipping.

InLine Tube finishes strong! After I returned their line and my pattern, InLine made me a new line and it fit perfectly. No charge other than my original order and return shipping. All in all, a win.

Re: New Fuel pump to carb line wrong from Classic Industries

Surprised to hear of issues with Inline-Tube. recently bought transmission cooler lines and fuel pump to carb line for my '72 BB with A/C and all lines fit very well. Nice to hear that Inline was helpful in fixing the problem.

They should have at least waived the charges for the order and given you the new one too. After spending $60 on your part to return the wrong item and send them yours as a pattern .

On a side note I stopped using Inline tube when I was doing my Chevelle . The rear lines were totally wrong and I got them to check and send new ones and again totally wrong . I made my own then put a ford 9” in and got SS braided lines .
