Harmonic balancer shim??

There was a question about this a few days ago and it got me thinking. My balancer pulleys are recessed about 1/8th inch further back than all the rest, and I'm wondering if there is a down side to shimming it out. I'm not talking about washers or anything, I'm thinking about fabricating a shim out of aluminum that's the same size as the pulley base with the appropriate holes drilled in it.

What do you guys think? would I have any problems with vibration or throwing the rotating assembly out of balance?

If I remember correctly pulleys aren't flat and the bolt holes have bosses that fit into the balancer??? I wouldn't use aluminum in an area like that it has a tendancy to work harden get brittle and fall apart. I would use steel washers under each if I could not find correct pulley. just my .02

When Thomas Edison worked late into the night on the electric light, he had to do it by gas lamp or candle. I'm sure it made the work seem that much more urgent. George Carlin
