Need Help with upper control arm shaft bushings

I am rebuilding my front suspension on my 69 C-10. I am trying to install a new upper control arm shaft but the bushings don't seem to thread right...they don't thread all the way like the original bushings did...I don't have a clue what to do now...please help

make sure the threads are clean, no paint etc. They don't go on easy. I used a big wrench and a heavy mallet.

I only know about my '89 suburban where the bushings are pressed (or hammered) in. How do the older ones screw in??? A screw in bushing??

They really only thread onto the actual shaft but there are ridges I guess you could call it on the outside of them...I finally got them to go in but it took a lot of elbow grease. I will post a pic of the bushing when I get a chance for those who care. I just hope the lower control arm bushings are a little bit easier...thanks for the help

They should screw in with a little coaxing. I use a 3/4" drive breaker bar, and a oversized socket on both upper and lower bushings. As long as your A-arms are in good shape they should screw in. If they don't then they've been damaged either by wear or by someone with a mallet who didn't know they screw in (hint hint).
