Cab rotissiere?
Getting ready to start on another truck and was wondering if anyone had come up with a decent rotissere type setup for working on the cab bottoms. need something that will roll cab over 90 degrees but not bolt to the floor cause it will be cut out for replacement panels. just kind of looking for ideas. last truck I did on my back and I hate welding --up!

check out the frequently asked questions, there is a fellow there who made a cab roller out of bent exhaust tubing. I will search for the link and post if you don't have any luck. Michael

I just laid down cardboard and rolled the cab on it's back. I also rolled it up on the firewall and used a jack stand against the rain rail. Of course mine was completely gutted.

Solver, hope you don't mind me jumping on here but wanted to add:
Has anyone "rolled" one without gutting it? I really don't need to pull windows, dash or floor, etc. Do need to do cab mounts though.... I'd pull all the easy stuff and doors, just don't want to mess with windows and such. The one in the FAQ was using the cab mounts to bolt to if I'm not mistaken....

No problem Luvlegs . I saw the one they were talking about and think it does attach to cab mounts. This won't work if I have to cut out for floor patch panels
just not sure where I can attach to the cab and roll without flexing the cab

Actually, the above are OK but this guy here at the forum basically bent a cab caddy out of what looked to be 3" muffler pipe. It bolted to the body mounts and allowed the cab to be flipped on end or lay on the top or bottom or something, making it perfect for 67-72 model trucks.
I know someone has to know what I'm talking about - there are pictures here on the forum. In fact, I mighta linked to em in a recent post. EDIT : nevermind, someone beat me to it

I think everyone is skipping solvers intent here - he KNOWS about the pipe one that is being referred to - he is looking for something else as he needs to do floor replacement - Correct me if I'm wrong Solver....

I think that with some modifications the exaust tubing cab stand might work. We just need additional attach points so the floor supports can be replaced. For the rear it looks like there are two inboard holes on the rear support that could be used. Up front maybe using the holes that attach the inner fender to the cab might work. For some added support another maybe the stand could be clamped to the angle support just behind the front cab mount. I think I would put in some temp bracing to keep everything in place and roll the cab onto the front since it is significantly heavier than the rear of the cab. Do you think this would work?
