Is a 71 GMC hood the same as the 67/68 Chevy?
Hey All,
Is the 71 GMC hoods the same as the 67/68 Chevy hoods? Would it bolt right up. Thanks Stacey |

It will bolt up without a problem....it just wont close. The front "lip" on the hoods are different. The 67/68 lip is part of the "front" of the truck and the 69-72 hoods "tuck" behind the grill. I have no idea about the GMC's but I'm sure it's similar.

67 hood
From what I've been able to find out so far, you'll have to get a latch for the hood from a 67. You will also have to play with the front alignment behind the grille. I got a pic for inspiration here (it's on a chevy though):

Don't let that awesome pic fool you. You have to do some metalwork to get that to work. You have to graft the 69-72 "lip" onto the 67-68 hood. I've always wanted to see what that would look like and this is the first time I've seen it. If it was easy I promise you'd see A LOT of these trucks with that hood. I hope you do it 'cause then you can do a FAQ on it and show the rest of us how to be cool too

Yeah do it,that is a lot cleaner looking IMO.The hood is the awkward part of these trucks,IMO they should have kept the sloped hood.

Different question. What are the differences in the 67-68 Chevy hoods vs 67-68 GMC hoods? Any one have pics?

I had to edit a lot of ugliness out of this thread.
The question and answer are both there, so I'm going to lock it now, no more needs to be added. Kevin
