canister type oil filter to spin on type conversion
I have on older 327 years ago I converted it to the spin on type well I am currently rebuilding it and need the gasket or o-ring or what ever goes into the hole before my converter goes in. I went to the local autoparts store and they sold me a felpro kit with several gaskets and o-rings in it some I believe for an external oil cooler? These all seem too small. What do I need to ask for or does someone have part numbers or what did you do? I am pretty sure it will leak without something???
help...

I just converted mine to a spin-on when I finshed my rebuild recently. Which hole are you talking about that needs an O-ring? I didn't have to use any extra O-rings for the new filter. The old cannister had an O-ring though.
BTW, Do you still have the old oil filter bypass valve left over from when you converted to a spin-on? Mine was cracked and they are very tough to come by.

Thanks Tom
I will go in and ask for the old cannister o-ring they should be able to find that. I am will look in my stuff but I swapped 327'2 out 15 or so years ago and I believe I swapped the whole thing out from one to another.

I don't think you should need a cannister O-ring. The top of the spin-on filter has one already glued to the top of the housing.
When you buy a new cannister type filter they normally com with a new O-ring.
