Is there a difference in axle lengths from a 67 12 bolt versus a 70,71,72 12 bolt? I am pretty sure the ones after 73 are different but not sure about the older ones. Any info would be great.

67 to mid year 70 is longer. Mid year 70 to 72 the same.

Longer by about an inch and a half.

...and aren't the '73 to '75's the same width as the mid-70 to '72's?

I have wondered the same thing but don't have one to measure. Change the axle to spring brackets and buy an adjustable panhard bar should be all that is needed.

so the axle shafts themselves are different lengths to, or is it just the housings? I found some 71 5 lug shafts for sale and am wondering if they will fit in my 67 6 lug housing. Thanks for the feedback

Yeah,everything`s the same except the shafts and housing lengths must be matched year for year.Not sure about`73-up,but I believe they`d be the same from`70-up.Just went to all leaf suspensions in`73.

Does this also hold for '67-'72 leaf suspension (are the '67 to mid '70 leaf the same narrow width as coil)?
