I've seen a few of these over the years and always assumed they were "owner-built", but can one of the board experts verify? Thanks,

Not an expert by any means but Gm never built one.

Look close at pic you can tell what it is.

that looks like a ford extended cab back window, and side windows. Looks like somebody did some grafting.

That extra cab window just doesn't fit with the rest of the truck... However, I'll back that up by saying whoever did that job did about a MILLION times better job than I could have done!

Theres something wierd about that bed. Is it a lwb bed cut down in the front?

Sure looks like it. appears like he wanted to put moulding on it and maybe he can't find any or hasn't finished

There was a couple of coach companies that modified trucks for the railroad and utility companies. Not factory by a long shot, but there are a few of them still around. WES

I saw one here a while back referenced as a railroad truck and it too had a strange back window. Any idea how I would check to see if this is one of them?

I don't know if there is a way or not. However you should be able to do a search of these boards and I know there have been several threads about them. A couple even have pictures of the brochures. WES

The top of the rear cab is definitely Ford in that pic.
