exhaust cutouts.... Pt. 2....SOUND

Lets drop the performance side of things for now...

If I am going to run cutouts, will it sound like open headers even if some exhaust gets to the muffler?

Or will it still sound like mufflers?? Its a 350 with headers...

The only doubt i am having is because you can not restrict all air flow to the mufflers using cut outs, how much exhaust will actually reach the cutout?

I guess my question is this...
Will I be able to tell a huge difference in sound, a small difference in sound or no difference in sound??

Thanks
Jason

I would think most of the exhaust will go out the cutout. The exhaust gases need to curve to go to the muffler.

i do not have them personally but a buddy of mine has them on his 68 skylarke. He has 2 1/2 in. pipes flowmasters and cut outs. when he opens them up you can not even tell that it is still running thru the mufflers. Sounds like straight open headers to me.

I would say its inbetween. I have cutouts on my lemans, altho it has been awhile since the thing ran with out them. It is louder then mufflers, but not louder the straight exhaust. Mind you its a small difference from straight exhuast and the cutouts.

I would just go drill a 3" hole in your mufflers and it should sound almost the same!!

Cheers

Good Luck!
