Accelerator rod+Edelbock 1406, am I missing something!?
OK, so when I push on the gas pedal, the portion of the accelerator rod under the hood moves towards the rear of the truck to pull the accelerator linkage and give more gas. The linkage on the Edelbrock 1406 is designed to be pushed to give more gas and accelerate. So the stock accelerator linkage now moves backwards for the carb to work. What am I doing wrong and what do I need to do to make it work.
This is a 1968 C10 with a 305, Edelbrock performer intake manifold and carb. I have searched but come up with nothing. Maybe I searched for the wrong terms so hopefully I don't upset anyone. Thanks, Moneypit.

I just installed a 1407 on my 71 cheyenne and the linkage pulles toward the fire wall. Did you hook your throttle linkage to the top or the bottom af the throttle cam on the carb? The bottom is where the return spring goes the top is for linkage. If you reverse these the linkage would then have to push instead of pull.

Re: Accelerator rod+Edelbock 1406, am I missing something!?
I was hooking to the bottom as that is where it was hooked on my old 2 barrel and I didn't even look at the top side. Now I feel like a moron. Going outside right now to double check. Give you an update in a few. Thanks!

haha, yeah but you got a nice close detailed pic.. mine is the same spot, just had to drill the hole out a little, use a few washers, bend the rod and drill a hole in the rod and use a cotter pin

Re: Accelerator rod+Edelbock 1406, am I missing something!?
1LoC10, thank you for the pictures. I went and checked and the hole that you have your rod connected to is too small for my rod to fit into. Did you enlarge yours? Also, my accelerator rod is shaped different than yours and I was wondering if there was a difference in the years or if you bent yours by hand. I really like the shape of yours better as it looks like it will clear my spark plug wires alot better.
I will try to get some pictures but I don't have a camera and will have to see if I can borrow one.

Lol, I guess that is what I get for starting a reply and then walking away for awhile. You guys have answered my question about drilling out the hole.
67cst thank you as well for the picture, I really appreciate all the help so far.

Here's my setup.
I bought a "throttle rod stud" from Edelbrock. I had to drill the hole out a bit too.
