Just bought a 97 700r4-have questions-help!

I bought it from a junkyard who warrantied it for 3 months so I better get it in quick. They also had an 89 but I went with the 92 that used to be behind a 350 in a van. (My 68 truck has a 350) I am going to be replacing my Powerglide with it. This is a two wheel drive automatic tranny like my Powerglide. I know I need to get the hydraulic lock up kit but what other differences can I expect. The 700R4 has a short tail shaft from what I can tell so I am hoping for no driveshaft manipulation.

1. Will all of my linkage from the column to the tranny work? I know I have to change the indicator but is there any other column work?

2. Will I have to modify any cross-members?

3. The said it works and inspect their transmissions before sale - I paid $184 was that a good price?

On the way out of the junkyard was a 68 bed just sitting on the ground filled with junk. It had a bent up original tailgate but the reverse lights were intact so I asked him to throw the lights into the deal and he did.

Anybody with talent could fix that tailgate I think. Thanks for the help.

you'll need a linkage hookup for the TV cable to the carb
driveshaft will need to b shortened
tranny crossmember moved back to mount the 700

there is a ton of stuff on this site about this. I have posted alot about this specific subject. You need to go back to the junk yard an ask for the front yoke out of the van the tranny came from, and the othere stuff CDOWNS said

I used the wiring kit for the lock up converter and trans cooler from www.bowtieoverdrives.com . It worked really well, they have great technical help.

It is very important to have your TV cable set correctly.

Thanks guys for the help. I will head back tomorrow. Is a trans cooler required if I won't be towing often?
