Lowered 69 GMC
Got started on the 69. Pulled a few leaves and new shocks. Dropped the rear 3.5 inches and rides about 100% better... almost car-like. Im gonna do 2.5in. lowered spindles and 1 inch lowered springs in front... what do you all think?

Re: Lowered 69 GMC
thinking of lowering the back of mine also just to get a smoother ride and get rid of the serious rake i have. How many leaves did you pull out to get a 3.5 drop, and were they all the lower ones?

Re: Lowered 69 GMC
Yes the 3 lower ones... it rides so smooth now. Dont think it will haul much weight now though. I dont really care about that though as I have other trucks and trailers for hauling.

Re: Lowered 69 GMC
Looks great man.. it will look and ride even better once the front comes down too. I'd replace both upper and lower balljoints when you have it apart. Have you considered a front sway bar? That will really give it a car-like feel.

Re: Lowered 69 GMC
I got mine from a board member. Just put a WTB ad in the parts section. I think I paid something like $80 shipped for a 1 1/4" swap bar. World of difference.
Want to see side view pic of your truck. Thinking of pulling a leaf or two on mine. |

Re: Lowered 69 GMC
OK....cool. so that's one coil cut off front springs and three short leafs pulled from back end. I'm just curious because I am looking to achieve that look with my leaf sprung C20 Chevy.

Re: Lowered 69 GMC
I think there isn't much difference in 1/2T and 3/4T front springs. 44 years old....I think one coil will probably give me the same look. I was thinking just put a metal cutting disc on my chop saw and cut one complete coil.
