72 underhood wire routing

Does all the wiring for the starter route around the front of the truck, then along the framerail w/ the battery cable? Or does it run along the back of the firewall? The PO did some re-wiring, (I cut out about 15 butt connectors!) and I am trying to put it back to where it is supposed to go. Thanks!

Suppose to run up from the starter to the top of the firewall and over to the bundle of wires behind the firewall. The top of the firewall should have the plastic wire gutter to contain/hide the wires as well.
