Is this a 1972 Chevrolet C-10 Super Cheyenne

Ok...one thing this site does and that's identify what is fact and fiction about about our trucks. This one being advertised as a "Super" yet I see no emblems that says it is so. This looks like a very nice fully optioned 72 but is it a Super? Again I ask this to learn. PS....this is the same color combo that my 70cst has and hopefully will look like next spring.

Re: Is this a 1972 Chevrolet C-10 Super Cheyenne

WoW! Now that is a novel. As far as it being a Super, it could be. The Cheyenne package was only trim. Some Cheyenne's did'nt have a/c, or tach, tilt,ect... I dont know much about the Super other than it was offerd in late '71 and '72. Most of the options on these trucks were specified when ordering. So Cheyenne does'nt mean loaded with options, it is just the trim. They said they redid the paint. So maybe they just did'nt put the super badge back on.?

Re: Is this a 1972 Chevrolet C-10 Super Cheyenne

First of all,it`s CheyenneSuper not SuperCheyenne. It doesn`t have anything on it that would make it a CheyenneSuper that a Cheyenne doesn`t have:No "Super" badges.no stainless tailgate handle cover,no woodgrain on instrument panel & glovebox door,or CheyenneSuper badge on glovebox door.It has herringbone seat cover, but prolly redone that way.
It`s a nice truck, but I doubt someone would restore a CheyenneSuper into a Cheyenne.Especially going the resto-rod route. The dual exhaust and rallyes are mandantory, but not original. The bumper guards aren`t factory, but GM accessories from the dealer.

Re: Is this a 1972 Chevrolet C-10 Super Cheyenne

i like the rare headliner and stainless trim

if it was a real truck with less than a real 100k miles i'm sure the glovebox sheet would be there in excellent condition

Love how some nit-pics these trucks. That truck looks great and should bring over 10k. Seen alot worse for more $$$. A buddy got one the same color from VA for $10,200 in '03. Shame it burned when his house burned.

Hey weasel29gm...That was the pupose of this thread. How else does one learn but from asking questions and doing a lot of reading. I even said it wrong in the title...the correct term is "Cheyenne Super" and not "Super Cheyenne". This thread is not meant to go after the seller but learn more about these fine trucks. I said in my opening post that

This thread was to define the difference between a Super and non Super. I think special-K did a good job explaining to me and maybe others the differrence. I agree in a way it looks like a nit-pic...but to do so is a way of education. Lets continue 67-72 Chevy/GMC Class 101.

Re: Is this a 1972 Chevrolet C-10 Super Cheyenne

i don't believe special K was picking on the truck, he was just stating some facts. i completely agree with it being a nice, well optioned "cheyenne" just not a "cheyenne super". also, as stated, options could be ordered on any truck, be it a "C", custom, custom deluxe or whatever. it just depends on how it was ordered. i've seen some weird ones over the years, one of the stranger ones was a custom deluxe, 1/2 ton, 2wd suburban with tilt, buckets, a-c, p-b, power steering and idiot light guages. i once owned a 72 cheyenne 3/4 ton 4x4 with tilt, tach, am/fm, locking diff, aux fuel tank and no a-c. people ordered differently back then, i guess.

Re: Is this a 1972 Chevrolet C-10 Super Cheyenne

It is a nice truck but it doesn't appear to be Cheyenne Super. It should be easy enough for the seller to confirm.

I just checked my glovebox option sheet, it's on there as option #IYE945-Cheyenne Super Equip.

Just answering the question in the title.I don`t nitpick trucks,I nitpick the sellers that offer inaccurate info representing it as fact and something to base the sale on.If he knows what he`s talking about,he`s a liar.If he doesn`t know better,he shouldn`t talk like he does.

Re: Is this a 1972 Chevrolet C-10 Super Cheyenne

Since we're "identifying" what is and what ain't.....

The spinners were not factory....just in case someone is thinking..... But it has already been said the the rallye wheels weren't available in '72, either.

I guess it all boils down to the fact that individual owners can and do modify their vehicles in accordance with their own tastes. We are going to see trucks that have stuff that wasn't stock or available at the time, added to them from time to time. For some it's no big deal. For others, it is confusing. The fact is that there will be some folks who will (thinking they're correct) try to pass off a vehicle that they believe is original, etc., only to be told by a more knowledgeable person that what they are presenting as stock is not stock.

If a potential buyer is looking for an unmolested survivor, he/she had better arm themselves with all the knowledge they can muster before shelling out the big bucks for that premium example. Asking questions of people that they deem to be the knowledge base is one way. There are plenty of books and multitudes of magazine articles in existance. Restorers are a different breed than those who just like driving them and want their own vehicle to reflect their personal tastes. Hey, it's what makes America the place to live!!

Now, let's see.....can I take a Jimmy and make a Philipine Jitney version?? Yeah, stretch it out...put a couple rows of seats down the inside....add some bling and dingleberries......yeah, that's the ticket.

Very good feedbackl ChevLoRay...

To add to this would be research this site. If one wants a factory optioned truck then they need to do research so they know what is and is not factory options for a particular year. I have a very good understanding on a 1970 C10 but limited on the other years. Thats why I go here. I can ask questions or I can search for possible answers. One can buy the right truck off evilbay but it is always a risk unless you are familiar with the truck. You know what they say "Buyer beware." Thanks for the feedbackl as I now know more then before this thread was started.

Re: Is this a 1972 Chevrolet C-10 Super Cheyenne

My 72 Cheyenne is equipped almost exactly like this one. No woodgrain on the gauges or glovebox (where all Supers had it I thought). I have the same rare headliner and came with the woodgrain doors and woodgrain exterior trim. I changed the interior from Parchment vinyl to orange/black houndstooth. And left off the woodgrain panels. Mine is not a Super, but has many of the options. BTW it has 79,000 original miles.
