1971 C10 Lower control arm install question
C10 Nation!
I rebuilding the entire stock front end. Rebuilt upper and lower control arms including shaft assemblies. I have installed both lowers and lined up the rivets with the forward divots on the shaft assembly. After installation I noticed that there is 1/2” difference between the two lower control arms in relation to the crossmember. Is this a problem? If so, what is the solution. Please see pic’s. |

I'm not sure if there is a difference between your 71 and my 67 lowers ? measuring mine they are 4" to the base of the "nut" these are Moog shafts and bearings . Hard to tell where your measuring from ? Are you using the 9/16 ubolts ? Ignore the dust

Re: 1971 C10 Lower control arm install question
Thanks everyone for your help. Upon further investigation I received two different shaft assemblies that were causing the 1/2” difference. The numbers on the boxes matched but one of the shafts was definitely not the right one. Parts store messed up and they are exchanging for the right one.
Lesson learned: The parts in a box do not always match what is labeled on the box. Double check part numbers on everything before install! |
