72 with full wheel covers

Well I had some good time today with the 72 and I discovered that I do not care for the full wheel covers on this truck. I have a set I am getting ready to sell (see parts board soon) and thought I would give em a try.

When I have the cash, It will have TTD's 15x7's fronts / 15 x 8's rears
235/70/15 275/60/15

I also rid the poor truck of that hideous rear bumper. I have a nice chrome sports bumper on the way.

Also, the tail pipes are going to be redone to fit tighter and be tucked in and more out of sight. They look like hockey sticks under there

Those are what they call "blue dots" very old school trick of making the tail lights have somewhat of a neon glow at night. They are actually illegal in some states. They were with the truck when I got it. If I can get my hands on a nice set of OEM's or NOS lenses, I will donate the "blue dots" too you for your truck if you like.

I will only ask that you NEVER call it mustard yellow again. It is Ochre man

Thanks for the offer. If they aren't legal in some states I better pass though. I don't want to give those guys any more excuses to pull me over lol

That's funny. 10 years ago you would not catch me dead with that mustard yellow, baby puke, crappy nasty ugly color. Now, I love it and cannot think of anything I like better. Maybe a red/white 70 C20 2 or 4 wheel drive.

I only like wheelcovers with whitewalls. That's how it was back then. A standard car got hubcaps and blackwalls and a deluxe got wheelcovers and whitewalls.

Yes they call em hub caps I guess. I just seen a great big debate over this a few days ago and what I learned that was in Texas SWB means short wide and if you don't like it....

...then you are correct. Cuz SWB means Short Wheel Base and a whole lotta people "can" be wrong.

Everyone who doesn't read SPIDs calls this color Mustard,except artists who paint with oil. My first truck 40 years ago was an Ochre SWB Fleetside Highlander. If they didn't call it Yellow they called it Mustard. I like mustard so it didn't bug me. Maybe that's because I called it Mustard,too. Heck,I never paid attention to SPIDs. That's why I didn't know I had a Highlander till 20 years later. It said Custom Deluxe on the side and to tell the truth I didn't know that meant fancier than this but not as fancy as that. All I know is it had a plaid seat and the first thing I did was remove the wheelcovers and put on hubcaps. My next truck was also Ochre with a white top. That one was a SWB Stepside (no such thing as a SNB)

What rear bumper was on the truck? The big "truck" bumpers look way cooler than sport bumpers... but that's just me.

I have the big ol' honkin' truck bumper still on my '72.

I don't mind the "big' step bumpers on 3/4 and 1 tons but for the little 1/2 I really like the sports.

Here is what it had, I believe 2000 + pickup / tahoe / suburban painted to match.

To me the 88-98 bumpers look like a sport bumper you can step on. Those look better than the '99+ bumpers,IMO. These trucks...and sport bumpers are rounded,too.

I absolutely love blue dots but sadly cops hate them. They make your tail lights a bright neon reddish pink purple color that's just sexy as hell. I think it's better because they appear brighter and stand out.
