Wheel wobble? Can't get rid of it?
My right front wheel has always had a bit of play in the camber. (I have new tie rods, ball joints, wheel bearings). I went to get an alignment the other day & the old mechanic told me he thought my hub was worn (wallowed) out. He said the inner bearing race was probably spinning it was so worn.
I didn't notice this at all when replacing the wheel bearings & races. He showed me & there was definately a problem, he's not just trying to sell me junk. He tightened the wheel bearing, but to no avail. Way too much movement up/down (not side to side). Has anyone heard of this? Or am I missing something? Races not fully set? Ball joints loose? I looked while it was up on the lift, but didn't see anything. (I somehow missed this when doing wheel bearings). Thanks, Clueless.

Thanks LonghornMan, I was hoping for your feedback, even if you are a Newbie to the site with only 00008 posts.
How would I know if I need a new spindle too? Am I gonna have to Mic it?

Thanks Longhorn.. You & the old mechanic were right. I pulled the wheel to see that the outer wheel bearing freely rotates on it's own. It moved around just a slight bit, but 15" out from the center, that 2mm becomes 2 inches.
Off to the junk yard I go.!

I'm not sure if the larger diameter base that the inner bearing race sits on should be at a sharp right angle, or a slight taper for about the first 1.5mm. Perhaps I should get out the digital camera & take some close-ups.

Forgive me Graywolf if you think I'm stealing your post. I ran into the exact same problem. Replaced everything you did and ran into the same "wobble" on my right front tire. Is the solution the same on a 4 wheel drive?

Hey Longhorn (or others),
Do you know if a hub from a '66 C-10 will fit my '70 C-10? I have a friend who just pulled some off & that would work out quite well.

I would pull the hubs and compair the two for a good bit, checking bearing diameters and all that good stuff...but I would imagin the old one would work.

In a pinch I have taken a punch and peened the spindle to keep the inner race from spinning. It can be done for the outer race area as well. Not a real long term fix but will last a bit if the spindle or hub is already damaged.
