Re: who can recognize this motor for me?
get the casting numbers which are located behind drivers side head and someone can tell you hard to tell just looking at one you can sometimes tell by looking at harmonic balancer

You need to hook the tube up from the back of the air cleaner to the valve cover. Looks like it is disconnected. LockDoc

I can narrow it down to either a 262, 265, 267, 283, 302, 305, 307, 327, 350, or a 400 from that picture.

Re: who can recognize this motor for me?
Even then you can't be ABSOLUTELY sure...it could have been stroked !! (but that would an unlikely combination with the stock intake)

I will guess it is a 305... but it'll be sold as a 350!

So true. In fact, I don't think I've ever seen a used 305. Where did they all go???

Re: who can recognize this motor for me?
In all seriousness, it appears have the 8" balancer most common with 350's, but even that doesn't mean anything. The pulley system is later than this generation truck, so it is likely a later model engine also. Looking up the casting numbers on he back of the block is the only way to know for sure. The driver's side dipstick dates it pre-1981.

I'm thinking its a 350, just because ALL of it looks exactly like my 350. But I could be wrong.

Re: who can recognize this motor for me?
never underestimate the power of mottled together-ed-ness. Like my 72... 305 block, 2bbl 283-327 manifold, early 60's carb, pre 73 alternator brackets though, points distributor. Talk about a junkyard dog. PO's are crazy.
Anybody remember the years on the dipstick sides? Also, there should maybe be a prefix code on the front of the block. 305's have a seperate unique number, and if I remember right, the other prefixes don't really indicate which block, unless it's a 305. Can't remember how the rest go though. One more thing. Sure it ain't one of them Corvette-option trucks' motors?

Re: who can recognize this motor for me?
Considering that the 68 327 in my car is an 010 block.. same block as many 350s and some 302s.. Even the casting # won't tell you exclusively. I see mortec says the 010 block started in 69.. but I pulled the motor out of an original 1 owner 68 impala myself. So they appear to be a year off.

Re: who can recognize this motor for me?
BY THE WAY, you need to fix that rubber fuel line that is hanging over the exhaust manifold!!! Run as little (preferranly none) rubber on that line as possible but in any case keep it away from heat sources. WLH
PS. I say it's a 70's 350 but you never know.

Re: who can recognize this motor for me?
Best number is on the block under where the alternator is mounted . In front of the head stamped on the block providing the block has not been decked. Post that number and letters. This will give a better and closer ID of what you have posted . IMO
