350 lt1
this is my first time posting on here but I have a 68 chevy truck and was thinking about putting in a lt1 350 from a 1996 chevy caprice and i was wondering if anyone has done this and will it fit?

It has been done several times. Have you tried a search for it on here? I recall something about the rh motor mount being a different bolt pattern on that LT1 motor[ I think the bolt holes are upside down ] to clear the A/C compressor. I had a 95 ImpalaSS with that LT motor and loved it . In fact I have one sitting at the shop I've been waiting for the right project to use it on. My SS got like 25 MPG out on the hiway I don't think that there is much difference in the weight of the two, but the truck is not very areodynamic.Where you planning on using the EFI setup or going carb and dist?

I used a 96' Camaro LT1 and the factory (well urethane for me) engine mounts bolted right to the block, the block has the same holes as the Gen 1 engines (as well as the holes for the Camaro mounts)
A/C compressor will not work in the factory Camaro position, I believe the Corvette brackets or aftermarket are the ticket because these position the compressor the top of the drivers side. I am not sure where the Impala brackets position the compressor though. Check out my build thread for pics. Oh and with a 700R4, 3.73's and a 255/55/18 tire I get roughly 14-15 mpg depending on the driving habits and highway speed(s).

Welcome to the forum! I have no technical input as far as transplanting it, but I do have a fairly healthy LT1 in my 92 Corvette. Gets good fuel economy, and enough power to get in a lot of trouble. More of a higher RPM motor, but when you turn it up they run pretty well...
