Post How many different trucks/parts/etc. make up your current/past trucks?

Just wondering how many people have pieced together a truck like I have.

Here's my mix up - Father in law has dubbed it the Psycho Billy Cowboy Cadillac. (my name is Billy after all)

1971 2wd swb frame with power front disk brakes
1972 A/C cab, tilt column, brake booster, back window, shortened one-piece driveshaft, gas/brake pedals, glove box door, and modified cluster
1968 Doors, front grille panel, fleetside bed
1989 TBI bottom end/short block, 700R4 trans
1996 Vortec heads
2001 Silverado 40/20/40 seats, (temporarily 95 ish bench for now)

New parts include
Edelbrock vortec intake and 650 Thunder series AVS carb,
LMC parts- 2" cowl hood, 67 front fenders, inner fenders, left bed side, front bed panel, windshield, and tailgate
Advance Auto 4 row radiator w/Jeg's elec. fans
Brother's stainless trans cooler lines.
Auto Zone brake/fuel lines
Jeg's elec. fuel pump, misc. elect.
B&M lockup kit
A1 Electrick power 1 piece window kit
Auto loc shaved handle kit
And all the other little things I forgot.

If you don't want to list this much, just include the main body/drive line stuff and what it came from.

If/when I do this again, I plan to start with a more complete/salvagable vehicle. But all in all I am coming out pretty good on this one I think.

I'd be here on this thread for hours listing off all the stuff from different places that found it's way onto my burb, let's just say it would be a long list even though I started with a mostly complete truck.

Re: How many different trucks/parts/etc. make up your current/past trucks?

Let me see...My`67 GMC swb project,so far, consists of:

1)`71 Chevy rolling frame. As far as I know it`s all from one truck. It came from FL.
2)`94 Tahoe 3.42 posi from GA.
3)`68 Chevy truck 327 and buddy buckets from NJ.
4)64cc heads from MD.Do car parts count?
5)Muncie M22 and clutch assembly from MD.car part
6)Aluminum bell housing bought in PA.Another car part.
7)Clutch linage from VA.
8)`67 GMC grille and core support from NE
9)Louvered hood from NH.
10)Hood hinges from VA.
11)`67 GMC fenders from KS.
12)`71 Longhorn cab from CA.
13 & 14)Doors from CA.
15)`67 wing vents from AZ.
16)Bedsides and wheel houses from TX.
17)Headboard from CA.
18)Tailgate from CA.
19)Wood bed floor supports and rear panel from AZ.
20)Rear splash guards from CA.
21)8 x 15 wheels from GA.
22)`67 GMC hubcaps from PA.
23)`65 Chevy car steering wheel from TN.
24)Sun visors from NC.
25)Instrument cluster from SC.
26)Glovebox door from MD.
27)Air cleaner from PA.Car part.
29)Valve covers from PA.Car part.

I think that`s all the used parts so far.All lines from different trucks.New parts don`t matter where they`re from. This is the first time I put it all down.I`m surprised.I thought it was at least 30.

Sorry if this is a semi-hijack to the thread.....BUT

I can't contribute to this ....YET!!!....But I want to ask you guys if you think you could of bought a truck whole for what you pieced together??..Especially sheetmetal??....
Due to a limited budget, I would like to begin to collect parts to build one in due time....just want to know is it cheaper to piecemeal it OR buy something whole and start over??

Maybe a request to list how much you got in to it too??....

Re: How many different trucks/parts/etc. make up your current/past trucks?

I've never stopped to think about how I've pieced together my two projects...but I'll give it a whirl.

'67 LWB (Big Black)
Original Frame, Cab & Hood
Front Fenders, radiator & Cluster from '68 GMC Donor
Bed, Overloads, Door Panels, Carpet, Windshield from '69 Donor
Doors, Core Support, Grille & Heater Core from some dude on CL.
Seats from '03 Silverado.
Steering Wheel and Serp. Belt Setup from 86 S10 Blazer
Powertrain as I bought the truck.

'67 SWB (Lemonator)
Pretty much still the way it was when I bought it.
Scored PS, PB & Coil Spring rear suspension from the same '69 Donor that provided the LWB for "Big Black".

I`d say yes and no.It depends and it was never about money. For me it`s parts I had gathered that I decided to build one truck out of.They are the exact pieces I wanted and it will be somewhat unique.A comparable truck would be a rustfree short Fleetside`67 with either Chevy CST or GMC Custanceom options. The truck will be lowered, rebuilt mechanically, and vintage high performance for around $15,000.it will be exactly what I want.

In contrast,my`72 K2500 doesn`t have parts from any other trucks and I`ve owned it 8 years. The wheels came from NJ,but they are custom wheels.

Re: How many different trucks/parts/etc. make up your current/past trucks?

Here's just the used stuff:
01' Chevy truck: motor/trans
00' Chevy truck: T-case
84' Chevy 1 ton truck: rear axle
79' Ford 3/4 ton: front axle
99' Chevy Tahoe: Front and rear seats
72' Chevy truck: Auto steering column (burb' was orig. 4-speed)
Body is 100% original.
Too long of list for new stuff.

Re: How many different trucks/parts/etc. make up your current/past trucks?

I'm at the humble beginnings of doing this.

67 frame
72 cab
don't know what year the doors are
71 rear
trailing arms from something else
probably use my 89 seat
73-87 front suspension
73-87 wheels
haven't decided what to do with engine yet... it will be a tough decision if I should keep the one I have, or sell it with the 68. If I can't get enough $$ for it with the good engine, I'll probably pull it, and do an aerosol overhaul on a pull-a-part 350 and try to sell it with that.
there will be lots more.
