ART triangulated 4 link
Has anybody installed this kit on a 67-72 pickup? If so how difficult was your install?
Also what are peoples opinions on a triangulated 4 link versus a parallel 4 link. I know that a traingulated setup has less lateral movement, but what are other advantages / disadvantages. Pictures of your setup would be awesome. Thanks... |

I don't have any knowledge regarding the ART kit, but am a big fan of the triangulated setup.
We used this with great success in a SCORE Off-Road Trophy Truck. One of the main advantages is exactly as you stated - the triangulation handles the lateral loads also so an additional lateral link (panhard or other) is not needed. Our apex mount was fabricated onto the top of the axle center section with a monoball bearing for the pivot. With the apex at this high location, the vertical separation is typically a little greater between the upper and lower links than it would be with the parallel setup. This was important for our off-roading because it allowed us to move the lower mounts up flush with the axle and give us a cleaner bottom for better ground clearance. That may or may not be important to you. Your kit may have brackets included for attaching the apex onto the center section, but if you have to weld onto the casting/forging, that will require some special skill - a welding shop with a furnace and experience for this type of job. -dch |
