Need info on Ls1 engine swap into a 4x4

Hello, i know i dont post much of any here, but trust me i check in daily to read threads. Well my questions is, has anyone installed a Ls1, Ls6,Ls2,Ls7,Lt4.8,5.3,or a 6.0 Into a 4x4 pickup. And what problems did you run into. I know that on a convention small block that the motor sits back further on the 4x4 trucks than the 2x4 trucks frame and sits quite close to the firewall. And all that i have read on the site has to deal with 2wd trucks. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Re: Need info on Ls1 engine swap into a 4x4

Well not to sound like a a$$, but that really doesnt help me with the 4x4 truck install. I really need some info if anyone has done this or read about this. My big question is the engine mounts if they will work with the motor sitting further back on the frame and if the motor will hit the firewall and if there will be any oil pan problems with the 4x4 engine crossmember. And i forgot to add that i would also like some info with this engine install with a
4L60E trans and what adapter to use to work with the 205 transfercase. And what to do for exhaust, if you ran hedders or stock manifolds and what are the off of. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

im still gathering parts but about ready to start. Billyjoe has a bad ass k5 with a sc 6.0 in it, do a search. Im not aware of any other 4x's but there may be more. There are quite a few 2wds with genIII's.

Re: Need info on Ls1 engine swap into a 4x4

I used the S&P mounts with my stock engine cross member and the valve covers don't hit the firewall but it's close. I also had to grind off a couple of the casting bosses on the motor and oil pan, it's a pain in the ass to get the cross member in but I was able to due it after some trial and error again it's close but doesn't touch.

I used headers and had to cut them down to make them fit, I would've used the stock manifolds but I didn't want to notch my frame. Others have used different options or types of manifolds and have been able to keep the notching to a minimum.

I think you can do a search on KBracing, he reworked his cross member and I also think he's using the 4L60 trans, his isn't complete but it's quite a ways along.
