Hey guys, I was wondering if the '88-'98 rear half of the frame and suspension was at all close to the '73-'87.

I've seen plenty of bedless or frame off 73 and up trucks. And they look nearly exactly the same as the '88-'98. I'm talking 2wd trucks. How close are they alike, if not exactly?

How about the the rear end width, is that the same?

Only reason I ask, is I want to run a wider wheel/tire in the back. I want to keep it inside the fender like it would be from the factory without rubbing the leaf springs. I was thinking 295 or 305 on a 10" rim if that would fit.

How wide of a wheel/tire are you guys running without problems?

32x11.50x15 on an 8" rim..

Actually, today, I seen a 73-87 C10, with a 88-98 bed on it. Looked strange, but not too bad...
BTW: Jon is running my old set of 32x11½ 15's, and I had them on my 2wd (as he does.) I THINK on a 4wd, you can run 33's.

i think he is wanting width more than height.

Anything you can run on a 10" rim will probably work fine, you would have to have some REALLY wide wheels with tons of back-spacing in order to rub on the rear springs. I have 12.5" wide tires on 15x8s and there is PLENTY of clearance.

I just want to run a wider rim and tire without having it stick out of the fender and also not rub the springs. Still trying to keep it looking 2wd.

A set of 32x11½ 15's on a set of 15x9 rims will look meaty, trust me.
