I'm baaaaack!! Progress begins once again!
After many, many, many months of pushing the 68 farther in the corner, I got a shot of adrenalin on Monday. One of the local paint shops had expressed interest in buying the box off of the 68 many months ago. He finally called me on Monday wondering if I still had it. Told him I did, and we agreed on a price. I delivered it to him yesterday morning, and after unloading it, we started talking about the other two parts trucks that I have (68 4x4, and a 70 C10). He wants them both. We had already talked about him fixing the hail dings in the roof of the cab. That really what has been my hang-up. I hate trying to fix that kind of stuff. I know that if I do it, it will NEVER look right. I've gone too far with this truck to start getting sloppy. he siad he would have his guys fix it, no probloem. Just bring it by. I have a better than good feeling that if I offer him both of my other trucks, I can get the remaining body work and paint done. And considering that every body panel other than the cab, grill, and cowl are new Goodmark parts, it should be easy going as far as body work goes. I will definately pre-assemble the truck to make sure everything fits right first. So now I am excited once again! I knew all along that the bigest hold up would be the body work and paint. Metal work, no problem. Assembly, no problem. But me and the mud jus' don't get along!! I hope to have some pics up soon once the cab goes back on the frame.

Glad to see you back. I was wondering where you were and how it was coming along.
Like you, I know the painting aspect is what bothers me the most and would be my biggest issue. I can weld, fabricate and build, but I can't paint. See ya, Ron

Well, I took him a list today of what I have for trucks and parts, and he said "Looking at the length of this list, I'm sure you want more money than I am willing to pay." I smiled and said "Money is not what I need, what I need is body work and a paint job!" He just grinned at said, "We just happen to do that here "
So, it looks like I get to reclaim my back pasture, AND get my truck painted! Now I am stoked! Oh, he is also going to fix a few of the paint chips in Dad's 72 3/4 ton as part of the deal. Plus, I can get rid of all the extra parts laying around that I don't need. I have everything that I need for the 68 in plastic storage tubs on shelves, so everything else can go. WOOHOO!!!

Congrat on the rekindled spark! Keep us posted. I got my '68 Chevy Truck repainted BC/CC, and it looks nice. I just need to buy a new dash pad, rear chrome bumper, and rubber floor mat. Everything is stock! Now, my '72 Chevy truck is at the paint shop. After wrestling in deciding the color scheme, I decided to stick to the original two-tone orange/white paint job.

I ended up with your box from the paint shop, I didn't regonize it was from your truck until after you had left. Check on your truck regularly at the shop. They get in a rush sometimes and take shortcuts. I've been working next to them for years and seen it happen many times. I'm not badmouthing them, I just want you to be aware.

Wow Chris, small world! I take it the blue/white SWB always parked out back is yours? I like it!
Yeah, I know what you mean. I have known Howard since about 1986, at least since his store was in the Sandys gas station. Gotta stay on top of him to keep him slowed down a little! I'll probably take just a few pieces at a time to him for body work until everything is ready for paint. He won't have a complete assembled truck there at any time. I'll do the assembly at home. Cool to know there is another local on the board!

Will do!
He was just out to the house to look at the three trucks. Sounds like we have a deal I got the doors hung and adjusted last night, and got both rockers and and the passenger cab corner screwed into place today. I found a tiny spot of rust behind the old cab corner that I need to fix, but no biggie. I'm just glad he wants to do this deal. This thing has sat without anything being done to it for so long now. I just hated the thought of trying top do the bodywork myself, then try to paint it on top of it all. I can do the metal work, but nothing beyong that. It'll save me time, a HUGE headache, and mama will be happy to have all these other truck gone! And it may actually get done before my kids are out of college!
