Wiper Motor Question
'68 C10. I replaced the wiper motor on my truck.
It hasn't worked since I bought the truck. The previous owner bought a used switch but said he couldn't get it to work. He had switch wired incorrectly. I wired it right and heard the motor work but it wouldn't turn the arms. So I replaced the motor. Now it moves the wipers but only once when you push the button in. They won't stay on. Anyone have this issue? And is the wiper motor grounded to the frame some how, I thought I remember I read the motor was grounded. I am thinking the switch could be bad. Also the pump is not installed. Thanks for any help |

Re: Wiper Motor Question
Are you just pushing the bottom, not turning it?

Re: Wiper Motor Question
If I remember this correctly, pushing the button/switch activates the washer pump and engages the wiper for one "wipe".
Turning the button/switch gives you two different wiper speeds..slow and fast. Some say the speeds are slow and slower, but these are 50 year old vehicles. |

Re: Wiper Motor Question
Lockdock posted a great article on how the wipers work and how to test them.

Re: Wiper Motor Question
New switch installed. Still doesn't work. Only works when you push the button for the pump and gives you one swipe. I am thinking its not grounded at the motor or I don't have the pump plugged in. Does the pump have to have power through it ?

Re: Wiper Motor Question
Loc Doc or Grumpy did a great tutorial or wiper motors. Try and search for it. Are you sure that you have the motor wire and the pump wires in the right location? They can be reversed. The Lt Blue and Yellow wires and the black go to the motor. The Dk Blue and yellow wires go to the pump.

Re: Wiper Motor Question
Check to see if your wiper motor has this ground strap.

Re: Wiper Motor Question
Yes it has the strap. Thanks for posting the wire diagram. I had the wrong plug on the motor. I put the plug on the new motor. I just took the plug off the old motor and put it on the new not thinkng the previous owner had it wrong. So now it works great.
