Do I Spy a 50th???

Been eyeballing this truck for quite some time and finally caught the guy outside the other day. Older retired guy that got the truck from his dad (original owner) and rarely drives it. Asked him about selling it and he says pretty soon cuz he's got some other projects he wants to bring home and he said he would give me first shot.

Looks like a 50th and he said the seat used to be that plaid Gold and White pattern.....so I'm thinking it probably is. Looks to have original paint, rust free, really nice bed floor, factory A/C, original radio, and Black CA plates. He did say that it was originally a 307/3 on the column truck, but his dad put a 350/350 combo in it many years back (hence the Black column).

If I end up with it, my plan is to make it a nice driver with a late 5.3 swap (maybe 6.0), do the SWB conversion and more than likely refinish in factory colors with a lowered stance and some cool 17 or 18" nostalgia type wheels.

Keeping my fingers crossed!

You already have my dream truck - now you want another? It sure looks like a 50th - SPID would tell you, I'm sure. Keep us posted and if it's gonna be anything like your blue truck, it will be beautiful when it's finished.

Re: Do I Spy a 50th???

Man you guys kill me. All this talk of LWB to SWB. Come on... if it really is a 50th, leave the body the way GM built it otherwise it is a clone in my book. Honestly, I think there are more SWB truck out there then GM ever actually built.

It is a great looking truck and I would love to start with it.

Long live the longbed!!!

Re: Do I Spy a 50th???

That is one sweet ass nice truck! Looks pretty original, let me know if the price isnt right for you. Kevsclassics truck looks nice too, but it seems they didnt do a good job shorthening their truck...take a closer look where the cab meets the bed body line. It seems offset.

I think the trim makes it look that way. If you look at the actual sheet metal it looks like it lines up good. Kev has built enough trucks that I can't believe something like that would get by him...

Re: Do I Spy a 50th???

For a Calif truck it sure has got a LOT of rust in that bed.

So here, I'll be a nice guy:

Let me send you my address, & you can unload that rusty ole junker to me.

Of course, you'll have to pay for the shipping..........

Congrats. Looks like a real prize.

Re: Do I Spy a 50th???

looks like a nice 50th.... save it, it doesn't have to be all original, just keep it a 50th
I personally wouldn't say it's no better than a clone... it's still a real 50th truck.... its just modified

Re: Do I Spy a 50th???

This is the only factory literature on the 50th that I am aware of. To date, I have not yet seen anyone else produce any documentation on specific facts of what this package consists of. All I am hearing is gold-white paint and opinions. Please correct me if wrong. This literature clearly says "Specially equipped".There is obviously more than just a gold-white paint job. This photo shows a CST with full wheelcovers for starters.

I believe 68 was the first year for the gold and you could only get the 2 tone on a 50th
