differance between '67 and '71 cabs?
I just bought a 1967 C20 4X4. but the thing is rusted out really bad. I am in the process of buying a 1971 C30 2wd. My ? is are the cabs from the '71's interchangeable. I want to trade cabs and get rid of what is left of the C30 ? Both cabs are high hump but the C30 has a A/C cab ? I have not looked into this or anything yet, I wanted some expert advice. Thanks guys. Oh ya I will probally have some parts left over, I will post the parts I have left over. Thanks again!! Landon

Some differences I can think of are:
67 is probably small back window parking brake setups are different gas pedal on 71 will be floating type verus rod type gas tanks may be vented differently should be nothing that would prevent the swap. I may be missing something but the rest will surely add to the list if there is

The only three differences that I can think of off hand are :
67 has small back window 67 has hand brake vs foot brake for e-brake 67 has throttle rod vs throttle cable I can't think of anything serious to stop you from changing the cab out. Jim |

What those guys said, and 71 should have a vent on the door pillar, no big deal though.

Another thing to consider from switiching 2wd to 4wd is the center hump being a high hump in a 4wd and the 3/4 ton (if its a auto) will have a low hump. The cab supports are different on a 4wd too I believe. The 67 cabs also have an extra hole for the choke cable.

IF the C/30 is a 4 speed or a big block it would have the high hump. The cab mounts should be the same too...only the 1/2 ton 2 wheel drive has the odd ball mounts, all the others match up to each other.
Another small insignificant detail...the mouning pad for the rearview mirror is odd on '71s. Again...nothing big. |

What would one do about the gas pedal differences?

Perfect time for me to throw my question in on this thread. I'm looking at a 70 cab for my 72. I parked right next to it with my rusty truck and I could not see any difference. Can anyone confirm that this is a bad swap for me? (70 cab on a 72 frame)
They are both 2wd 1/2 tons Thanks in advance...

old rusty...it isn't a bad swap...there are just a few things that will not be 100% correct.

Thanks Longhorn and Tim.....you guys rule! I'm gonna go for it and give this guy his $100 (not too bad for a cab) Sure wish he hadn't put a sunroof in it.
Now to pick up a cab mount kit. Wow, won't know how to act if I can't see the road just to the left of my feet when I look down...hehe. Thanks guys

71-72 rear dually drums from a one ton are hard to find if you need drums within specs for safety check...I could use those but shipping might be overly outrageous... maybe not if the hubs were off and the drums were in good condition...let me know , you could still tow it around on the hubs without the drums if you did sell the drums and needed to move it around still.
