I have a 67 step side with manual steering and want to put power steering in. Need to find out what gear box will fit? Any info would be great!

Someone else probably knows for sure but I will offer my 2 cents anyway. I know a fellow who put a box off of an 70's Chevy pickup in his truck. He said it bolted right on like it was made for it.
I got one out of a 68 at the wrecking yard but have yet to put it on my truck. I need brackets for a 6 and the donor truck was an 8 so the brackets for the pump don't work.

Boxes from 67-79 should fit without a problem.

The '67 frames don't have the indention which allows the power steering box to fit flat against the frame. You'll need the modify the frame to make it work. Other than that, they'll bolt right up.

I'm not sure why, but not all '67 frames are the same. My '67 had the indention in the frame for the box. I used a box from a later model truck as well. I've seen '67's with the indention and without. If you have the indention, it will bolt up quite easily.

Do a search on power steering...check out post "steering gear id".
I posted a response earlier and it shows years and pics of what fits.

If you don't have the indentation, and install a later box, you will wear out the box quickly, and probably have darty steering. (ask Wes...he's been there)
To see if you have this indentation, look on your frame rail where your gear box bolts...if it looks like flat stock, you'll need the old style ram assist (like the old vettes) but if it has the indentation like in the pic, you'r OK to put what ever you want on there.

probly the best thing to do which i did on my 69 gm i sweet talked my neighbour and he gave me the pump and bracket off his 73 chevy cargo van the bracket bolts right on and needs no extra modfication and for the gear box i just got one froma 73 gm out of the wreckers all i had to do was notch out the bumper brackets slightly other than that it works perfect. also it will be harder to find but brackets for chevelles and camaros will also work

the indentation on the frame that you are refering to, are they on the outside part of the frame? Currently the manual box is using the front 2 and the rear bottom. If these are them I do have them so I can use any box?

Outside of frame...look in the center od the 4 bolt holes, you'll see a dent in there.

If you want to go with the original style power steering that came with your truck (67- early 68), I have the parts , minus the pump and brackets, which are the same for the newer years through 72. It is the ram style and works with a manual gear box.

It came of my burb and worked fine. There was some minor seeping from the piston, which is normal, but no leaks.
