Help with SPID paint code? Hugger orange or med red?

Hello everyone. Let me start by saying what a fantastic site this is. We age done so much reading thus far and have lots more to do. We recently purchased a 1972 Super Cheyenne C10 and confused on what touchup paint to get.
Someone told me it was Hugger Orange but after reading a thread here I'm not so sure. I will try to attach a pic of the orig SPID tag. It says white/med red/white. #146110
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks so much!

Looks like some good options on that spid....One thing I noticed is that you said it's a super and the option code is YE9 and the Cheyenne is Z84..I may be wrong if maybe another member can give a little more info. Either way sounds like a sweet truck got more pics?

I just posted a pic of the truck in the orig post. I'm curious now about the option codes. It has the woodgrain glove box as well.
Thanks for the input.

Nice truck and welcome. Yes, it does raise the value to some people to stuff Super trim on it, so lots of people fake them. No biggee. Unless you paid a premium for that little trim bump to the seller. Note that your truck also has 69-70 buckets in at whereas yours came with a bench from the factory, and, on Supers with a bench seat, only parchment, olive, or blue interiors were available. However, perhaps more importantly, did the seller disclose how this truck became a short bed? It was born a long bed. Although not shown in your pic - at the top of your SPID, you will see a 127, not. 115. That means it's either had the frame shortened or swapped to a swb frame and a short bed or shortened long bed added. It would be worth checking the frame for cuts/welds and for fish plates - and confirming your frame VIN compared to your SPID and cab metal tag VIN for the full picture.

We are traveling today but I'll double check the numbers when I get home. Fascinating info you're providing though. I have no idea on the bed length change.
We didn't pay $$ for the "super". Luckily we just liked the truck as is and really weren't aware of any significance of that "super" emblem. It's going to be a great hobby truck for us and occasional driver. Apparently she's been masquerading as something she's not.

Ha, glad to hear that. It is a very nice truck and as long as you didn't buy it specifically because it was a swb Super, then it's the perfect truck - no need for Bloomington Gold status in our truck world - although I'm as guilty as anyone about seeking originality. Not being original doesn't matter as much as it does for a Vette! Enjoy it!

Re: Help with SPID paint code? Hugger orange or med red?

For what it's worth, a bucket seat interior could be ordered in a Cheyenne Super in black (in vinyl only, no houndstooth, and it would have been on the SPID). So, the seller did a good job replicating a Cheyenne Super bucket seat interior, with the exception of using 69-70 seat covers and later model steering wheel.

Funny that you mentioned the seats. Just yesterday we were discussing the design and thought it went well with the overall feel of the truck. However when we took the drivers seat out to repair the sliding lever we noticed at the edges of the vinyl you could see red as if the vinyl was orig red?

Buckets could be ordered in any of the original vinyl colors and red was available in this design for at least one of the years if not both, in fact I think a red bucket interior is in the 69 or 70 brochure for a CST.

Re: Help with SPID paint code? Hugger orange or med red?

I kind of scanned the posts but your truck does not look to be hugger at all. Definitely a red..I just picked up a hugher orange jimmy if you want to jump ship and look at my posts in the blazer section...unless they changed the formula.
