Front disc break question that hasn't been asked
....as far as I could tell. Previous owner of my truck updated the front to disc brakes using a stock height spindle ( I don't see any markings but I assume CPP because the booster/master is marked CPP). Now then these rotors/calipers are in like new condition with little to no wear.
Now then I would like to use drop spindles, does anyone know if the aftermarket rotors will still work with the new spindles? To complicate matters more, I have a front crossmember from a 73-87 that came on a parts truck, I would like to section this crossmember and use it, if I get the hd spindles for this front suspension will I be able to use my existing rotors/calipers? I know this maybe better suited for the manufacturer, but was hoping maybe someone would know if the rotors was the same between kits, thanks gentlemen! Pi of spindle from behind |

Just get the spindles for the rotors you have. They will either be 1" or 1.25" thick rotors.

Spindles have to match the year of balljoints and tie rods that you have.

Re: Front disc break question that hasn't been asked
Thanks for the replies. Poorboy that was my question. If I get drop spindles for a73-87 with 1.25" rotors, I should be able to reuse the rotors (1.25") that is currently on my 63 with aftermarket spindles? Just wanted to make sure there wasn't any more differences. Lolife99 thanks for that, I was aware of the different tapers but wasn't sure if the way calipers mount or spindle diameter itself was the same between years.

Re: Front disc break question that hasn't been asked
The only odd-ball spindle is the 1" wide light duty 73-87 spindle.
Calipers, spindles, rotors and bearings all go together. 1.25" HD version or the light duty 1" wide version. Nothing interchanges between the two versions.
