knew windshield ppg
hey guys,
i just got a knew windshield from the glass shop. its a ppg with the visor tint. i noticed that the glass is like a sixteenth smaller in thickness compared to original. what have you guys done to get it to fit with out leaks. do in need to buy a knew rubber also. does the knew rubber have the skinnier channel in it for the thinner glass. any help will be appreciated |

I'm not sure if the channel in the rubber is thinner but I would consider getting a new one anyway.... I guess you could use some sealer in the channel but it would probably be a little messy. LockDoc

ya i thought of using the windshield caulk but i really would rather not. has anyone else had to deal with the new thiner windshield.

I have a new PPG window also (likely the exact same as yours) and I haven't had any sealing issues with new rubber all around. I never checked the thickness of the glass, as I took and threw the original months before getting the replacement.
Should be good to go, the rubber has a tight hold on the glass, so 1/16" shouldn't matter.
