'37 to '40 Frame Differences
I need a new frame for my '39 Chevy truck. I found a potential donor, looks to be a '38. What, if any, are going to be the differences in the '37-'40 truck frames? It looks like all the IFS suspension kits are the same for these years, so I can't imagine there's too much difference.
Thanks

Re: '37 to '40 Frame Differences
I don't think there is a difference from 37'-40' but the 41' and up frame is longer. The wheelbase changed from 113½" to 115" when they redesigned the front sheetmetal in 1941.

Re: '37 to '40 Frame Differences
technically a 37-9 frame is identical, 40-47 same--( the 39-and 40 cabs are different too even though they appear the same).

Re: '37 to '40 Frame Differences
Good to know, thanks.
I got lucky and scored a '39 frame with precut boxing plates for $100 ![]()
