original-71 gets new shoes

I got a text from a buddy of mine that has a really clean two tone 71. He bought a set of wheels from forum member greens69 and wanted to show me how they looked. He wasn't familiar with posting pics on here so I offered to do it for him.

Here's his truck in it's original form. It's a really clean restored truck that he plans to keep "mostly original".

Re: original-71 gets new shoes

Here's a sneak peak of his new shoes. They needed a bit of attention, so he is polishing them before he puts them on. Ignore the large wheelwell gap. He is going to close that up before its done.

His plans are to have it ready for a local Rod Run at the end of August. I think its off to a great start.

Nice wheels should look great when he gets them on and lowered.

Welcome to the board original-71. Looks like you have a nice truck. My daughter lives in Spring so I get down that way every once in a while. Maybe a few of us board members can get together next time I get down there...

Those sizes would definitely work better w/the 4.5/6 drop as well. Looking forward to seeing updates....

That is exactly the setup I am running on my '69. You will not regret it and the Toyo's are a really nice tire.

Here's what you can expect with the 4.5/6 and 20's:

Let me do some measuring and see what I can come up with for you. IMO, the 45 series tires a just a tad to tall for my liking but to each their own. It looks like they are .4" taller on the sidewall and radius (245/45), .5" taller on the sidewall and radius (255/45) and .6" taller on the sidewall and radius (295/45) when compared to a 245/40, 255/40 and a 295/40.

Nice!

Now he needs to just get that attitude adjustment done. 4.5/6" would look good IMO but I'm biased.

nice truck.....

Personally I dig the stock looking clean trucks dumped on big wheels better than the full on shaved/chopped customs.

I agree, I don't understand the lowered, big wheel short sidewall thing. My love of trucks has at least a little to do with tehir blue collar utility aesthetic. All a matter of taste.

That said with the rally's on there that is one really clean and good looking ride.

Re: original-71 gets new shoes

Nice looking truck but I prefer them with the lowered stance and the new 20's wheels in place....
