Inline 6 Harmonic Balancer removal??

I've got the removal tool, but I can't find a retainer nut or bolt holding the damn thing on, is there one? I don't wanna start pulling and mess anything up but I need to know. Any help quickly would be great!

Many of these early engines came with press fit balancers the cranks were often later tapped for a bolt when rebuilt. Just check carefully before forcing it off.

That's correct... My 68 only had an indentation and when I had the crank out for rework I had the machine shop drill and tap for a crank bolt. Easier to reinstall that way.

Re: Inline 6 Harmonic Balancer removal??

If your crank is threaded, don't try using the stock bolt to pull the balancer on. It's a good way to strip the threads. Instead, use a piece of allthread and screw it into the crank by hand as far as it will go. Then use a nut and washer on the allthread to pull the balancer on. It helps if you grease the threads and both sides of the washer.
